I’ll bet the Police and Firefighters wish they were bringing in that kind of dough. It also is no wonder that LA is BROKE!!!
When you include overtime pay it adds up. If you hire more first responders in all sectors you would reduce the need for such huge compensation in over time pay, at the same time paying a good salary as base pay. Ie., in NYC base pay for a firefighter is $46k, (completely unlivable in NYC), but overtime jacks it up to a level that makes it affordable to live in NY.
I’d rather pay lifeguards a decent wage than paying a fast food worker 20+ dollars an hour. The simple fix, higher more lifeguards and limit overtime. Yes our firefighters and police officers deserve more but with people like Bass in charge that will not happen. Even paramedics or EMTs don’t make that kind of money. However, lifeguards are important especially those working at the beaches.
It doesnt look like the regular sit in the sun life guard but the specialist, cheif or elite services life guards.
