WATCH: Trump signs executive order requiring proof of citizenship in federal elections

From Fox News: President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order requiring people to provide proof of American citizenship when they register to vote and demanding that all ballots be reviewed by Election Day.

The order requires government-issued proof of U.S. citizenship on its voter registration forms, directs the Attorney General to enter into information-sharing agreements with state election officials to identify cases of election fraud or other election law violations, and conditions federal election-related funds on states complying with the federal election integrity measures.

“There are other steps that we will be taking in the coming weeks,” Trump said just before signing the order. “We think we’ll be able to end up getting fair elections.”

“It’s an honor to sign this one,” he added. “I sign all of them, but to sign this one is a great honor.”

The White House Rapid Response 47 team posted a video of the moment and wrote:

POTUS signs an executive order on election integrity that includes the following provisions:

– Requires documentary, government-issued proof of U.S. citizenship on its voter registration forms.
– Conditions federal election-related funds on states complying with the integrity measures set forth by Federal law.
– Directs the updating of the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines 2.0 and security standards for voting equipment — which includes requiring a voter-verifiable paper ballot record and not using ballots in which the counted vote is contained within a barcode or QR code.
– Directs the Attorney General to enter into information-sharing agreements with state election officials to identify cases of election fraud or other election law violations.
– Takes appropriate action against states that count ballots received after Election Day in Federal elections.
– Revokes Biden Executive Order 14019, which turned Federal agencies into Democratic voter turnout centers.

Liberals are already slamming the order, claiming it will prevent Americans from voting.

Amanda Gonzaelez, a Democrat running to be Colorado’s next Secretary of State, claimed, “Trump is fanning the flames of election conspiracy theories with performative politics dressed up as policy. This doesn’t protect democracy -it undermines it by pushing fear, falsehoods & voter suppression. I will always fight to protect every eligible voter’s right to be heard.”

A liberal group called Voter Protection Project bizarrely wrote:

Trump: Immigrants are “poisoning the blood” of our country.
This is white nationalist hate—and it fuels voter suppression.
We’re fighting back. Every voice. Every vote.

The Brennan Center wrote, “This executive order would block tens of millions of American citizens from voting. Presidents have no authority to do this. This order, like the SAVE Act now before Congress, would hurt voters and suppress the vote.”
