  1. It certainly is worthwhile investigating sounds like a perfect opportunity and to rebuild Alcatraz it’s going to cost an astronomical amount of money. Start with a new facility and make it very similar to cecot in El Salvador. I think it’s a good idea.the island already has the protection of the Navy and it’s an impossible escape situation without air and boats. This would put the fear of God into criminals. Like the president of El Salvador said cecot has made El Salvador crime free. And they’re going to open another prison like it.

  2. Catalina Island is 21 miles away from this island. The ocean is treacherous in that area. I think there are lots of sharks. It could be useful. How fast would help get there if things got bad? (Riot)

Would guards live there? There are so many factors to consider. I like the idea.

  3. Sounds very viable, seclusion with the addition of the Navy seals to help train and added security. Housing could be added so staff can live on a temporary basis with boat and plane shuttle services. It would create new jobs so Gov Idiot probably would not like it.

  4. San Clemente Island sounds like a much better choice for several reasons. I really like that it’s under military control, and as the article states would circumvent any BS from radical blue states. Aside from that, the military has a different set of laws and rules which can be harsher than the civilian versions.

One thing about Alcatraz that particularly was of concern to me is its status as a historic resource. Undoubtedly, it’s on the National Registry of Historic Places. There’s several federal Acts that protect such resources. I’m an archaeologist and have on occasion “wandered into the weeds” of those Acts when some project potentially impacts a historic resource even when not registered. Restoration of Alcatraz would have to be consistent with reproducing the original structure which would be costly, time consuming and with continual oversight by a cultural resource company. Restoration of Alcatraz could take many years just because of all the paperwork.

That island sounds perfect in comparison

  5. What’s wrong with using Gitmo? Already there, can hold 30,000. They don’t have to go on Army transport planes. Run it like the El Salvador prison.
