Just STOP answering the phone for ANY number that’s not in your contact list or that you don’t recognize no matter how official it looks. If it’s someone legitimate they will leave a message. It’s so hard to get the elderly to just not answer unknown calls. I own a small business and I won’t pick up for numbers that are not in my contacts. My outgoing greeting states the following: “due to increased scam calls from local numbers if you are a new client it is necessary to leave a voice mail and I will return your call”.
