SNAPSHOT: A newly-unveiled portrait of Britain’s King Charles III has been met with controversy and mockery, and left everyone literally seeing red.

The large 7.5 foot-by-5.5 foot painting is all in crimson red, with the exception of Charles’ face and hands. His body appears to be emerging from the background, or fading into the background, in a ghostly sort of way.

DETAILS from CBS News: The painting by British artist Jonathan Yeo shows the king appearing to emerge from a red, fiery background. A butterfly appears as though it’s about to land on his right shoulder.

Yeo, who’s done portraits of other high-profile people including former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair, was commissioned for his latest royal work in 2020 to celebrate the then-Prince of Wales’ 50 years as a member of the Drapers’ Company.

The painting was designed with the architecture of Drapers’ Hall in mind. The portrait will hang in the great hall in London that is the home of the historic livery company, which dates back to the 14th century.

THE UNVEILING: A video is going viral on social media of the moment King Charles officially unveiled the portrait.  It is not going over well, and has become the brunt of mockery, jokes and memes.  Many are proclaiming it the ugliest thing they’ve ever seen, and are drawing comparisons to blood and Satan.

THE BEST MEMES:. Meme creators are having a blast, posting edited versions of the unveiling which show some shocking images when Charles pulls off the black curtain.

One of the most popular memes features former President Donald Trump. When Charles pulls back the curtain, a dancing Trump appears on the canvas. WATCH:

Another one shows the late Queen Elizabeth wearing a MAGA hat and posing in front of a sign that says, “Trump Won.”

One meme is an ugly “portrait” of Queen Camilla.

Another shows his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, appearing on the canvas.

The Royal Family posted the image on their Instagram account. Here’s a look at some of the reviews being written on the Instagram post. It is safe to estimate that 99.9% of all the comments reflect the sample below:

I’m sorry but his portrait looks like he’s in hell. 🔥

I have to agree! Something is terribly wrong with this portrait. I would not hang it up. Do better….

It looks like he’s bathing in blood.

Without sounding rude this is the worst royal portrait I’ve ever seen.

It’s giving blood on his hands.

Is he supposed to be a tampax?

Looks like he’s going straight to hell.

I don’t get a good feeling from viewing this portrait at all. Apologies to the artist, but it’s not pleasant to look at.

100% thought this was satire.

Does it reference the colonial bloodshed produced by British imperialism?

Blood bath.

I honestly thought it was a joke.

One of the creepiest royal portraits I’ve ever seen. Horrible!
