The employee will be retrained? At no time should an employee put their own opinion on to a shopper! A $20 gift certificate? Then an apology?

I don’t think retraining will work. Maybe looking for a new job will help. It’s Washington state so plenty of liberal leaning companies to choose from. Build a Bear has changed drastically from its original inception. It has always leaned left with my experience. This is why I don’t shop there and I haven’t for years. I think the corporate response was weak but predictable. People need to stop thinking these companies will change. The bottom line is always money. If they lose money they will listen. Boycott.
They should send her the bear she wanted, GRATIS, and give her $100 gift card in addition to firing and retraining the rest of the team.
That build a bear should rename the store to Eli from now on and thousands in compensation for undue trama just like the crazy left spew out every day
