As the scandal continues to grow surrounding a group chat among multiple Trump administration officials about a March 15 airstrike on the Houthi terrorists in Yemen, questions are swirling about how liberal reporter Jeffrey Goldberg from The Atlantic was added to the group.
According to President Trump, a “staffer” for national security advisor Michael Waltz was responsible for mistakenly adding Goldberg to a group chat on Signal. Multiple journalists and internet sleuths are focusing in on Alex Wong, who serves as the Deputy National Security Advisor under Waltz, as the person potentially responsible.
Goldberg first announced on Monday that he had received a connection request on Signal from a user identified as Michael Waltz on March 11. He accepted the connection request, hoping he would get a chance to interview him. Two days later, on Thursday, March 13, Goldberg said he received a notice that he was being included in a Signal chat group called the “Houthi PC small group.”
An introductory message to the newly-formed group from “Michael Waltz,” read, “Team – establishing a principles [sic] group for coordination on Houthis, particularly for over the next 72 hours. My deputy Alex Wong is pulling together a tiger team at deputies/agency Chief of Staff level following up from the meeting in the Sit Room this morning for action items and will be sending that out later this evening.”
The message implies that Wong was actually the one setting up the group, under Waltz’s name, which is a common practice for assistants of any official. Waltz has stated emphatically that he did not add Goldberg, and does not know him, but has vowed to find out how he came to be added to the group chat.
Goldberg’s identity on Signal is his initials, “JG.” This is also the initials of Jamieson Greer, who serves as the U.S. Trade Representative, who may have been the intended add instead of Goldberg.

When President Trump nominated Wong to serve as the Principal Deputy National Security Advisor on November 22, he noted that Wong had served during his first term as the Deputy Special Representative for North Korea, and said Wong had helped negotiate his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Wong was born in 1980, apparently in the U.S. His parents immigrated to the U.S. from Guangdong, China.
Wednesday afternoon, investigative journalist Laura Loomer dropped a huge report with more information on Alex Wong... and it raises some serious questions. Below are Loomer’s posts:
🚨EXCLUSIVE🚨
‼️Alex Wong, the Chinese Deputy National Security Advisor appointed by President Trump, who is at the center of the Signalgate scandal, is married to U.S. Attorney Candice Chiu Wong, a Chinese Woman who was one of the key attorneys involved in PROSECUTING J6ers.‼️
Alex Wong was appointed by President Trump on 11/22/24 to serve as the Assistant to the President and the Principal Deputy National Security Advisor under @MikeWaltz47 Mike Waltz, the newly appointed US National Security Advisor.
I have discovered that Alex’s wife, Candice Chiu Wong, worked under the Obama administration and the Biden administration as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, where she led the Violence Reduction and Trafficking Offenses Section for more than two years.
She was involved in the prosecution of many J6ers during the Biden regime, under which she was nominated to become a Member of the United States Sentencing Commission. Additionally, Candice Chiu Wong served as a Law Clerk to Obama-appointed US Supreme Court Justice Sonia M. Sotomayor!
Making matters worse, Alex Wong worked for Covington & Burling @CovingtonLLP, which is one of the law firms that President recently stripped of its security clearance and terminated all of their government contracts via Executive Order on February 25th, 2025. Trump accused @CovingtonLLP of being involved in the weaponization of government.
Why do we have a CHINESE Deputy National Security advisor who is married to a CHINESE US ATTORNEY who worked under Obama and Biden, and who helped prosecute J6ers after the stolen 2020 election?
This is unacceptable. And given the Chinese connections, it really makes you wonder if @JeffreyGoldberg, the reporter from the @TheAtlantic was added to the Trump Signal chat on purpose as part of a foreign opp to embarrass the Trump administration on behalf of China.
Alex Wong should be removed from his position, and both he and his wife should be investigated by the FBI @Kash_Patel @FBIDDBongino.

When President Trump was asked how @JeffreyGoldberg was added to the Signal chat, Trump said, “It was one of Michael’s people on the phone. A staffer had his number on there.”
That appears to be a reference to @MikeWaltz47’s Deputy National Security Advisor, Alex Wong. I wonder why type of vetting was done on Alex Wong and his wife. This is very concerning.

Additionally, Alex Wong served as the foreign and legal policy director for the Mitt Romney presidential campaign in 2012. Via that position, Wong was the campaign’s chief official responsible for developing foreign, defense, intelligence, judicial, and law enforcement policy and closely advising @MittRomney on these matters.
Alex Wong and his then boss Lanhee Chen @lanheechen are the two individuals who pushed Richard Grenell @RichardGrenell out of the Romney campaign for being gay. Wong and Chen argued that gays can’t be conservative.
Chen was the policy director for the 2012 Mitt Romney presidential campaign and Romney’s Chief Policy Advisor. Chen has been described as the leader behind the Romney 2012 campaign. Chen went on to serve in the Obama and Biden administrations.

The muck just got deeper..… Loomer announced, “The Chinese infiltration gets even worse. This is a painful lesson in why vetting is so important. I will be publishing the rest of my findings soon.”

Below is the latest bombshell:
🚨EXCLUSIVE🚨 Deputy National Security advisor Alex Wong’s father in law had direct ties to the CCP @MikeWaltz47
The father of Candice Chiu Wong, the wife of Alex Wong, the Trump-appointed Chinese Deputy National Security Advisor under @michaelgwaltz who is now at the center of the SignalGate Scandal, was directly tie to the CCP & the People’s Liberation Army of China via his 23 year long career with AsiaSat, the leading Satellite solutions provider in Asia. AsiaSat Holdings is jointly owned by Chinese state-owned CITIC Limited and private equity fund The Carlyle Group.
AsiaSat is essentially partially owned by the CCP as a state owned entity in China.
Dr. Ya-Hui Chiu, Alex Wong’s father in law, was a key figure in the early development of AsiaSat. He joined the company in 1989 and played a pivotal role in its technical operations, according to records I uncovered.
As a senior technical overseer of AsiaSat, Chiu managed all aspects of the launches of AsiaSat 1, AsiaSat 2, AsiaSat 3S, AsiaSat 4, and AsiaSat 5, while also supervising the maintenance and operation of the company’s satellite fleet. AsiaSat, Asia’s first privately owned satellite company, has provided communication services that reportedly support Chinese military units and enterprises owned by the Chinese military, raising questions about its broader geopolitical implications.
Chiu’s personal ties extend into U.S. national security circles: he is the father of Candace Chiu Wong, who is married to Alex Wong, the current Deputy National Security Advisor under the Trump administration. This familial connection has drawn attention to AsiaSat’s operations, particularly given its ownership structure. In 1990, the China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC), a Chinese state-owned investment firm wholly controlled by the Chinese government, acquired a significant stake in AsiaSat. CITIC’s involvement underscores the company’s ties to Beijing, amplifying concerns about the potential overlap between its commercial activities and Chinese state interests, including military communications.
While AsiaSat has operated as a commercial entity serving the Asia-Pacific region, its satellite fleet’s role in facilitating Chinese military communications—combined with CITIC’s ownership—places it at the intersection of technological innovation and strategic influence for the CCP.
Dr. Chiu’s tenure, spanning critical launches and operational milestones, highlights his instrumental role during a period when AsiaSat solidified its position in the satellite industry, even as its services extended to state-linked clients. The overlap between Chiu’s employment, AsiaSat’s ownership, and its high-profile familial links in the U.S. should have resulted in more scrutiny by the Trump admin during the vetting process of Alex Wong, who works as the Trump appointed, Deputy National Security advisor under National Security Director@michaelgwaltz.
I have been told by sources that @SenTomCotton is the individual who helped Alex Wong ascend the ladder in Trump world. Why didn’t Senator Tom Cotton do any vetting if he’s such a China Hawk? How come it took my own independent investigation to figure this out?
The vetting crisis continues to worsen.
Dr. Ya-Hui Chiu retired from AsiaSat in 2012 and passed away in 2016.
Alex Wong has been working with President Trump since the first Trump administration in 2017, and he was on the Signal Chat which @JeffreyGoldberg was added to. Alex Wong was the deputy assistant secretary for North Korea in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs from 2017 to 2021.
Many believe that Alex Wong is the person who set the Signal Chat up and added @TheAtlantic to the secure chat.
How is it that Alex Wong’s father in law’s ties to the CCP were not reviewed or disclosed to the public before he was given access to classified information?
Don’t forget, Alex’s wife is a US Attorney for the District of Columbia.
