The Trump administration has notified at least 8 major liberal news organizations that they are being booted out of their dedicated office space at the Pentagon, to make room for other news outlets who have not previously been given the same privileges.
It was first reported that the New York Times, NBC News, NPR and Politico were all being ousted, and would be replaced by The New York Post, One America News, Breitbart News, and Huffington Post.
Four more liberal outlets were notified last week that they must also vacate their office spaces in the building: CNN, The Washington Post, The Hill, and military news blog The War Zone.
Replacing them will be: Newsmax, Washington Examiner, The Free Press and the Daily Caller.
The news outlets being ousted from their office space will remain full members of the Pentagon Press Corp and will still be able to attend press briefings at the Pentagon. They just will no longer have their own physical office space in the building.
Department of Defense spokesman, John Ullyot, announced the new Annual Media Rotation Program (AMRP) in a memo dated February 7.
Ullyot said media outlets “that have enjoyed working from a physical office space in the Pentagon will rotate out of their space to allow a new outlet from the same medium that has not had the unique opportunity to report from the vacated office space.”
The office space swap is now scheduled to take place on Friday, February 21.
The New York Times explained:
It is common for reporters from major news organizations to have access to desks or work space at government buildings, such as the White House and the U.S. Capitol. The Trump administration has been vocal about wanting to give more access to nontraditional news organizations, including many that have reported favorably on the president.
The Pentagon is giving their spot to Newsmax, and also kicking out the Washington Post, The Hill, and The War Zone to make room for the Washington Examiner, The Free Press, and The Daily Caller.

These are additional changes to those announced last week, which were to kick out the New York Times, NBC, NPR, and Politico for the New York Post, OANN, Breitbart, and the Huffington Post.https://t.co/G0uc0DeOis

“Common Cause,” a radical far-left organization, complained about the switch, claiming, “This is what taking away freedom of the press looks like.”
Replacing independent media outlets like NPR, NYT, and NBC News with biased right-wing media outlets like Breitbart is an unprecedented move.
