Are they not government workers? Why should they have the option to forgo their pay. Their pay should be automatically stopped when the government shuts down every last one of them on both sides of the isle, top to bottom. With no retroactive pay coming to them after they finally start “DOING THEIR JOBS!”
Forgo my ass, they go taxpayer money hidden away in what they call their war funds in many different accounts. They are not going to hurt in the least.
Congress gets a minimum of $174,900 a year. Some members such as Speaker get more. Plus the get $990,000 a year to hire their staff. Times that by 535, no wonder the National Debt is creeping up.
If I told my employer that I’d work for free, they wouldn’t have to pay me. So back pay would be out of the question.
