I live in northern CA where countless acres of rice are grown as are fruit and nut orchards. Years ago I knew a guy whose family had about a thousand acres under cultivation with sheds and barns full of all kinds of tractors, harvesters and what-have-you. They were worth millions, but had trouble affording groceries. Wealthy people don’t have their $ in cash somewhere. It’s in assets. At some point, they would have to sell off assets and who might lose out then? Their employees perhaps?
