A cooling water system uses a cooling tower to remove heat transferred to the water by the equipment which required cooling. Cooling water is circulated in a closed loop and only make-up water is needed for evaporative losses, which is minimal. Both devices are used in world class size refineries, petrochemical facilities and power generation among other industries requiring cooling.
