Yes it’s theft! You never fully own your house. Plus the government can make property taxes so unaffordable that you lose your home and the government will find away to own it. I saw something about property taxes is making you pay rent on what you supposedly own. It’s really even harder on seniors
That’s exactly right! I’m a senior and struggle every year to pay my taxes on my home that’s been fully paid for for years! The taxes where I’m at go to attracting people into our town for food and drinks! Our municipal service sucks are roads are decaying and they rarely plow the roads in the winter! Every year it goes up at least another $100! It’s exactly like paying rent and getting nothing from the landlord!
Recently in Ohio they really stuck it to us.Raised property taxes ridiculously. My property tax went up over $400 per month.Over $5,000 per year.Nice house but no McMansion.Retired factory worker with pension and social security. How the hell can the average person afford to live
It is thievery in its purest form. My elderly neighbors are i. Their 80s with kids in their 50s yet they have to pay expensive property tax to fund local K-12 schools infested with illegal aliens.
We pay huge property taxes and income taxes. We pay city taxes. We also pay with our water bill taxes. We pay taxes on our cable bills, phone bills, internet bills, gas bills, electric bills, trash bills, auto gas, auto tags, and some pay sales tax. We pay taxes if we win something or inherit something. We are taxed to death.
Totally agree! We’re taxed on the money when we earn it, then taxed again when we spend it. Then taxed every year forever for continuing to own the property we purchased with the money we’ve already been taxed on!
Voted YES! Where I live in VA the County sets the rate after each reappraisal. They say our house is worth $$250,000 more than we paid for it and kept rate the same. Being retired makes it tough on all the neighborhood. Board of supervisors don’t care.
Living on a fixed income is hard enough without being taxed to death. Water tax, utility tax, and the list goes on. If we weren’t being taxed into our graves, we would have more money to spend to boost the economy.
I paid double the price of my home in property taxes over the years. My home was paid off 20 years ago, and now I’m on a fixed low income and can’t afford the high taxes being imposed on my home. I risk losing it! How is that fair!!
I’d love for us not to pay any taxes however I know my property tax pays for my local schools..
If we can actually get to a place that Americans aren’t taxed for every single thing that would be great.
We live in a small rural town an hour north of detroit and we pay over $8k in taxes annually. We pay more towards taxes per year than what Goes towards principal in our home loan. They raise it every year! Complete BS, total theft. Government can never confiscate enough from hard working citizens.
A resounding YES! I am fortunate enough to own my home but those tax bills at the end of every year hurt and I am always worried there won’t be enough in savings to keep covering them. I hate to think that is what all of my savings is going for. Please abolish property taxes!
At least stop prop taxes at retirement … too many folks are getting into bad situations. Here in Idaho… all the Californians and Oregonians moved here jacking up prices and these people who are lifelong Idahoans that maybe on reduced budgets, have to take drastic measures at retirement if not before.

Sounds like you pay as much as me!

Great point, Henry!

Whoever said no must not own their home

Absolutely, corrupt bastards continue to fleece we the people.
