It may need to be a graduated tariff timeline to allow for US product production to ramp up to meet demand. The Baxter International IV fluid shortages is one example where their other 5 US plants should have been able to increase production to make up for production lost due to Helene in NC. To import IV fluid from their China company is only going to increase patient medical costs.
Tariffs won’t take our options away, but isn’t the idea that Americans won’t buy tariff’d items, but American made instead, forcing the manufacturers of tariffed item to make them on American soil?
They worked before and brought jobs back to US soil.

We don’t need all that cheap Chinese stuff. People don’t need near as much stuff as they think they do. Less things, better quality, better country. It might be a little rough at first, but we have to turn things around and I trust Trump to do it.
