They can pay off early. It shouldn’t take 50 years. Double up payments when it can be done.
Exactly, or just pay an additional 10-20%
That said, it’s a fact that illegals have “bought” homes subsided or even paid for with taxpayer $$$. I personally know of one new house given (!!) to a family of illegals from Guatemala. Mass deportations will not only open up housing, but as a consequence, lower prices
In debt for life.
Banks will love it.
I agree there needs to be a way to address the issue that is causing a housing crisis. But exactly how long will that take to fix? Trump is being fought at every turn . Having a fifty year mortgage isn’t something that is mandatory, however it could be away to get people into houses . People having families. I don’t see that as a bad thing. I see this as Trump trying to come up with solutions while tackling problems at the same time..
In Debt for Life!! This is not the Answer! Developers, Contractors, Corporations buying up homes, building suppliers, even permitting and building by Codeis, Realtors are the problem and to blame, plus high interest rates of today Housing! Codes have added crap to building that has increased cost astronomically! One GFCI/AFCI breaker can cost upwards of $65.00, and you have to have one for practically every room. Electrical wiring is out the roof. All these issues needs to be addressed!
It’s just way for financial institutions to break it off in your rear in interest! ENSLAVING PEOPLE EVEN MORE!
A $1million house becomes $3million in 50 years of interest. How is that sane or reasonable?
Doesn’t sound so good to me. A 50year mortgage could keep you in debt for the rest of your life ! When our mortgage was paid off I felt so free! However, if you’re able to , or disciplined enough to try and pay it off early, it could be a way to own a home in today’s market
Absolutely terrible idea. Lifetime of debt, (and yes, I realize its a choice) but it basically gives banks a new financial windfall, and adds A LOT of cost (interest) to the buyer, and seems like another “housing crisis” whereby getting people into houses they really cant afford, by lowering monthly cost, but hijacking the actual total cost.
I voted yes only because I thought it might be a way for younger families to afford a home. But since they’re young it’s possible they could potentially make more money as time went on and they could double up on payments.
I said no, but having a smaller loan you could double your payments or more when possible. I think bulding smaller homes as starter homes would help.
It’s not mandatory it’s an option. There are issues that need to be resolved. I don’t want to see what happened with the mortgage backed securities and the interest only loans created by Bill Clinton. I thoroughly agree with deporting out of this country illegals They are given way too many benefits that are costing the legal American taxpaying people a fortune. These rogue judges and courts have to stop interfering with the administration’s agenda. We voted for this and we want the administration to execute its agenda. Also the governors and mayors that interfere with ice arresting illegals for deportation should be in prison with them for breaking the law and harboring illegals in this country. This has to stop and the violence protesting the chaos all has to end. The administration has to get very strong and start executing the law. Once people see that ice FBI police national guard mean business all this will end but as long as they feel emboldened and they have support they will continue with this. And these funded organizations that orchestrate all of this have to be shut down And those funding these organizations have to be prosecuted and punished for trying to destroy this country.
