Top Brass needs to be lean and strong and loyal to our country and constitution! They are charged with the combat readiness and might of our troops and must be ready at every moment.
This approach is beneficial in many job scenarios. There isn’t anything wrong with having standards. If you want to climb the chain of command you should meet the standards set forth by the organization. It’s happens in most jobs. Do you really want a sub par Mechanic , or Doctor, or Surgeon? Different jobs have different standards, but they are all standards needed to do the job.

Yes I spent 20 years in the Navy and can’t remember if the tests were every year or 6 months. We got our body fat measurements and had to pass a test. If not compliant you were on remedial PT. Three strikes and you were out. Now I see so many fat and unfit sailors it’s sad.
Lead by example
Some pictures should have been shown of the attendees. Most likely 80% would fail!
Absolutely!! It’s called discipline. Our military as Hegseth pointed out so well is supposed to be able to fight in war. The generals should lead by example!! At least a basic requirement!
I also believe our police force should at least have a weight requirement! I know in rural areas our police are so out of shape it amazes me how they allow it. How can they chase down a suspect when they can’t bend over to tie their own shoes…
I think everything Hegseth said today should be absolutely the basics . As others who have served in the military pointed out. A shaved face isn’t just because of appearance but also safety. You can’t wear a gas mask properly with a beard!
We have to remember this isn’t any type of job this is the military these are the people who have to kill other people to protect us!
I agree with every word Pete and President Trump said. We do not need our military to become The laughing stock of the world. It’ disgusted me to see what was going into that military and who was running it. Every person that enters the military whether they are male or female those are the only two genders should all be physically fit able to defend able to protect not only America but each other And it’s all business in the military You are fighting and protecting the country the American people. If that’s not something you want to do there’s no problem. remove yourself from that environment. It is not for everybody. They are very special people that enter the military And they are honored for their loyalty and dedication to the United States of America and to the American people. I loved the parade that President Trump did with the military marching and showing you the people that serve our country and protect us our liberties our freedoms our children. I was so proud watching that parade.
I agree with Pete. It’s always been this way. My Dad was in WWII and he came home thin.
