Heck yes!!! I’d like to see a 1/2 or 1% National sales tax. It would be a consumption tax and be FAIR to all citizens. When everyone has skin in the game instead of less than 50%, then we might get a higher percentage of citizens voting in elections. In that regard, we need a DAY not weeks or months to decide Our National Elections!
I am sick and tired of paying taxes no taxes for retirees at all we’ve paid all our lives give us a break no more! If Trump can cover gov’t costs from tariffs great go for it I’m all for it one less thing to stress over especially now during tax season
It’s a great idea, but I wonder if the states will just end up taxing us more. I think a lot of accountants will be upset though because they cannot charge as much and won’t have as many clients. It’s definitely something worth looking into and I applaud Trump for his out-of-the-box thinking and innovation.
If you voted no or unsure you must benefit from the IRS or at the least a family member is helped by the Government so that you don’t need to help. Truly the NO’s must not pay into the system and yet magically get a refund.
I, too, am sick to death of being taxed to death!!! In 2022, I had to pay $25,000 to the IRS because I inherited about 200,000 from my Mom when she died! That it 1/8 of what I inherited which is absolutely ridiculous!!! Then in 2023, I had to pay in $5,000 to the IRS because I had purchased health insurance online on the Marketplace via Obama’s “affordable care act” which is a total farce!!! Because I estimated my husband and my retirement a little little too low, I had to pay in $5,000 which is also ridiculous!!! I am sick of my tax dollars going to support illegals and people on Welfare who are too lazy to work!!!
Last year my husband and I had to pay in to the IRS which we did by check which was cashed by them! Despite them cashing my check and it clearing my bank they said they had NOT received payment so I had to prove via my bank and my accountant’s office that I had indeed already paid the money owed! I had to pay my accountant around $100.00 to send a letter to the IRS with bank records as proof! Despite hiring 87,000 NEW IRS agents the damn IRS couldn’t even keep track of my payment to them, so WHAT good are they??? I got the bill from my accountant’s office for sending the IRS a letter with my proof and I told them to send the bill to the IRS to pay since it was their mistake and NOT mine of my husband’s!!! Of course my accountant told me the IRS would NOT pay it even if they did send them the bill!!! I am STILL royally pissed about this bullshit and think I should be able to at least claim this bill on my taxes in April!!!
Yes, absolutely do away with current IRS. In the late 1890’s through early 1920’s were great growth and economic periods in our country. There were no federal income taxes, only tariffs. Also, go back to the gold standard. There was little to no inflation when on the gold standard.
We need the function of the IRS, but it needs to be looked at thoroughly for any changes and improvements.

Linda, me, too! I agree with you 100%!!!
A 1% sales tax on everything by everyone. No it’s needed, no tax forms to fill out.
