Proverbs 4:1
Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;
pay attention and gain understanding.
(New International Version)
Commentary by Kat L
Fathering a child is easy, but being a father is one of the hardest things a man will ever do. He chooses to change his life to focus his time and energy on his child. He does this willingly, without the benefit of bonding with the baby in the womb. This tiny stranger looks at him, and the father is transformed.
God’s design for the family has the father at the head, providing gentle guidance and a forgiving heart, to teach his children to be Christ-like. The design is perfect, and a Godly father is a blessing to his children and family.
Thank you, fathers of the world, and God bless you.
Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for making fathers. As we celebrate fathers on this Father’s Day, we ask you to bless the dads in our lives. Grant them the wisdom and patience to be the leaders you’ve called them to be. Keep them safe. Grant them mercy. In Jesus name we pray, AMEN.
