A manhunt was underway Saturday night, after a gunman opened fire on multiple vehicles driving on Interstate 75 near London, Kentucky.
Police initially responded to reports that a person was shooting at vehicles from an overpass or a wooded area.
According to authorities, seven people in all were wounded, but none fatally as of Saturday night. Some were shot, and others were hurt in an accident as a result of the shooting. The Courier-Journal reported that 5 people were shot.
Police have identified the suspected shooter as Joseph Couch, 32, described as a white male. Multiple people listening to police scanners say he was shooting at drivers through their cars’ windshields.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has been posting updates on Facebook.
“***ALERT **** I-75 is closed at mile marker/Exit 49, and U.S. 25, nine miles north of London due to an active shooter situation. Numerous persons have been shot near I-75,” one post reads.
Another post after 9:00 pm ET announced, “***I-75 is reopened, both North and southbound ** Search for suspect continues.”
The Sheriff’s Department also released a photo of the suspect and announced:
***CONSIDER ARMED AND DANGEROUS*** The below individual, Joseph A. Couch, is a Person of Interest in the shooting that occurred at the Exit 49/KY-909 area. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts or location on this individual please contact the London-Laurel County 911 Center by calling 911 or 606-878-7000.
***DO NOT ATTEMPT TO APPROACH*** Joseph A. Couch is a 32 year old white male approximately 5’10 weighing approximately 154lbs.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D), said in a social media post, “I am receiving initial reports from the Kentucky State Police and our Office of Homeland Security — together we are actively monitoring the situation and offering support in any way possible. Please pray for everyone involved.”
