I know that from experience, I would bet anyone that i can do it with my 7mm with iron sites. By the way, i lost all of my weapons in a boating accident.
I agree with your assessment. I am a retired officer also assigned to swat. Just about anyone with an average iq can work a bolt action and score 200 yd shots with moderate training. TBH, one can learn most of these basic fundamentals on youtube. Scary.
This text exchange is too detailed to have been spontaneous. It looks like its purpose was to make the roommate look innocent with no prior knowledge of what Robinson planned to do. But the one big screw up he made in sending these texts was the “remember the engravings I put on the bullets?” text he sent the roommate.
For being in a situation where his adrenaline must’ve been hitting tilt he sure carried on what appears to me to be a pretty relaxed and lengthy conversation. I also agree that he would’ve called versus text.

If I saw someone carving into a bullet I’d ask why.. I think that bit of the exchange is really suspect. Did the roommate do the carving I wonder. It’s just odd to put such a detail while acting like the roommate had no clue. Carving a bullet is a big clue someone is going to do something!
