The burning man event is nothing more than a hedonistic, lawless, dangerous assembly of sex predators and chronic drug users. Every time this event happens, there are multiple rapes, drug overdose and assaults. The staff that work, the event are horrible people. Imagine a bunch of ANTIfA idiots running security, medical services and crowd control. There are numerous documentation of Burning Man event staff coaching sex assault victims to not cooperate with law enforcement. If you love your kids, teach them to never go to this stupid and dangerous event.
I’ve been to BM 12 times. Last time was 2009; attendance then was 35,000. When I first went in 1996, there were only 15,000. I stopped going not just due to the cost (tickets plus supplies- only ice is sold at the event- total cost was over $2,000) but an ugly component was starting to show up. Previously you had to arrive by midnight on Thursday. Because of the harsh conditions, only true “Burners” were there. But in 2009, a person could show up any time- people were coming just for Saturday and the burning of the man. Thugs and riff-raff came in, people whose only purpose was to get as doped up and drunk as possible and cause havoc. 2009 marked the first time I heard about rapes, theft, fighting. Someone had even been stabbed that year. Sounds like the original spirit of Burning Man is gone. When I was there, you could walk safely everywhere at any time of day or night. There was a communal spirit that was warm and welcoming. But no more. 😢
