BACKLASH: Trump slammed over ‘condolence’ statement on Rob Reiner’s death

22

President Donald Trump released a statement Monday morning on the death of his longtime critic, film director Rob Reiner.

Over the years, beginning with the first Trump administration, Reiner has continuously raged against Trump, accusing him of colluding with Russia and committing treason, and demanding he be indicted and jailed.

Therefore, Trump’s statement on Reiner’s death wasn’t exactly a traditional condolence message.  Trump wrote:

A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.

He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!

HERE’S A BIT OF TRIVIA: Breibart reported that Rob Reiner’s wife, Michele Singer, was the photographer who took the photo for the original cover on Trump’s breakout book “The Art of the Deal.”

Reiner was well known for his raging tirades against Trump, and he heavily pushed the “Russia collusion” hoax. Journalist Michael Tracey has posted a collection of screenshots of Reiner’s old posts slamming Trump.

Reiner’s final post on the X platform was on May 16, in which he wrote, “Trump flip flops, does 180s. But the one thing he’s consistent with is every day he breaks the law.”

On February 21, Reiner sneered, “Our founding fathers never imagined that the United States of America would be run by a convicted felon. And that compels me to add whatever resistance I can to try to correct that.”

Nonetheless, the man was just murdered, allegedly by his own son, and Trump is being slammed for the wording of his ‘condolence’ post.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) wrote: “Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had drug addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak.

“This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies. Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It’s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder.”

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) also slammed Trump, writing, “Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered. I guess my elected GOP colleagues, the VP, and White House staff will just ignore it because they’re afraid? I challenge anyone to defend it.”

British commentator Piers Morgan wrote, “This is a dreadful thing to say about a man who just got murdered by his troubled son. Delete it, Mr President @realDonaldTrump .”

Another X user fired back, “Where were you when Rob Reiner posted horrible things? He wanted President Trump’s life ruined, called his supporters scum, for him to be in prison, etc. I can’t blame Trump for being angry. I am thankful he called it “a very sad thing” and said “rest in peace”. It was tragic.”

Others are arguing they don’t blame President Trump one bit for reacting the way he has, considering all Reiner has said about him.
