President Donald Trump released a statement Monday morning on the death of his longtime critic, film director Rob Reiner.
Over the years, beginning with the first Trump administration, Reiner has continuously raged against Trump, accusing him of colluding with Russia and committing treason, and demanding he be indicted and jailed.
Therefore, Trump’s statement on Reiner’s death wasn’t exactly a traditional condolence message. Trump wrote:
A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.
He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!
HERE’S A BIT OF TRIVIA: Breibart reported that Rob Reiner’s wife, Michele Singer, was the photographer who took the photo for the original cover on Trump’s breakout book “The Art of the Deal.”

Reiner was well known for his raging tirades against Trump, and he heavily pushed the “Russia collusion” hoax. Journalist Michael Tracey has posted a collection of screenshots of Reiner’s old posts slamming Trump.
Rob Reiner will always be remembered as the quintessential example of a wealthy, aging liberal who got pathologically obsessed with Cable News and Twitter as a reaction to Trump, and somehow became a deranged, raging militarist. RIP pic.twitter.com/l4GyR5Qpmh

Reiner’s final post on the X platform was on May 16, in which he wrote, “Trump flip flops, does 180s. But the one thing he’s consistent with is every day he breaks the law.”

On February 21, Reiner sneered, “Our founding fathers never imagined that the United States of America would be run by a convicted felon. And that compels me to add whatever resistance I can to try to correct that.”

Nonetheless, the man was just murdered, allegedly by his own son, and Trump is being slammed for the wording of his ‘condolence’ post.
It has to be said. Trump’s tweet about Rob Reiner is a huge fail.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) wrote: “Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had drug addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak.
“This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies. Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It’s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder.”

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) also slammed Trump, writing, “Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered. I guess my elected GOP colleagues, the VP, and White House staff will just ignore it because they’re afraid? I challenge anyone to defend it.”

British commentator Piers Morgan wrote, “This is a dreadful thing to say about a man who just got murdered by his troubled son. Delete it, Mr President @realDonaldTrump .”
Another X user fired back, “Where were you when Rob Reiner posted horrible things? He wanted President Trump’s life ruined, called his supporters scum, for him to be in prison, etc. I can’t blame Trump for being angry. I am thankful he called it “a very sad thing” and said “rest in peace”. It was tragic.”

I’m extremely disappointed with President Donald Trump’s response to the deaths of Rob and Michelle Reiner.
The commentary was not needed. pic.twitter.com/iozgYTKhPH

Let’s talk about this President Trump Truth Social post today about Rob Reiner.
I fully support President Trump and always have, but this is an L today.
What are your thoughts on this?
There was nothing to gain from this post and it was unnecessary. pic.twitter.com/r2n9ha6qg4

What happened last night to Rob Reiner and his wife was a savage butchering of 2 human lives. I don’t care what their politics were or how they felt about Trump, no law abiding human deserves this. We should pray for + send condolences to his loved ones and NOT make it political. https://t.co/WK99n8zVWF

Imagine being the President of the United States. Then you go and say this about Rob Reiner!!!
I voted for Trump I didn’t vote for him to continue to divide the nation over this!!
This had nothing to do with politics. If you are okay with Trump saying this, then you are in… pic.twitter.com/Zrh45GBEs8

Others are arguing they don’t blame President Trump one bit for reacting the way he has, considering all Reiner has said about him.
Rob Reiner called for Trump to be jailed over lies
Not surprised Trump said what he said pic.twitter.com/25QtIbqf4t

Rob Reiner spent years spewing the most disgusting lies specifically about Trump, so good luck expecting me to be shocked because you think Trump was mean to him. https://t.co/fPpmjID7ck
