In September, singer/songwriter Jon Kahn released a powerful song titled, “Fighter,” which paid tribute to President-elect Donald Trump following the assassination attempt against him at a rally in July.
The song went viral, and quickly became a favorite with Trump supporters.
Now, Kahn is realizing the song can be an inspiration to himself as well, as he has some fighting of his own to do to get back up and start over.
This week, Kahn became one of the thousands of people whose home was reduced to ashes in the deadly Palisades Fire. He had to watch his home burn down on his Ring camera after fleeing for safety.
Kahn was interviewed on Fox News Thursday, and shared his story, with emotion in his voice.
Referring to the “Fighter” song he wrote for Trump, Kahn said, “I’m going to keep writing music, I’m going to get up just like the song says.”
“As far as what I do next, you know, you get back on your feet,” Kahn said. “There is nothing you can do about it. I’ve been leaning into faith these days, and I think I’m going to rely on that and lean on the support of all the love from all my friends, family, and even people I don’t know that have reached out. It’s been incredibly moving, the outpouring.”

On Thursday, Kahan posted before and after photos of his home on Instagram, and wrote:
“I want to thank everybody so much for the incredible outpouring of support. It’s beyond moving during these surreal times.
“My next song is about faith and this is a true test for so many but that’s what I’m going to lean into. My thoughts are with all the other victims and I know our community will collectively get up off the mat and keep fighting. – J”

Kahn posted another photo on Instagram, showing the back seat of his vehicle filled with his guitars and two MAGA hats.
“When evacuating, only take the essentials,” he quipped.
