During the same time that President Donald Trump was engaged in a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted a video statement on X, voicing his thoughts on what it’s going to take to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump flew to Alaska to meet with Putin in an effort to get talks started on a peace agreement.
During a press conference after their three-hour meeting, Trump and Putin both said the meeting was productive, but Trump said there is at least one significant point that they are not yet in agreement on.
Along with his video message, Zelenskyy wrote:
On the day of negotiations, the Russians are killing as well. And that speaks volumes. Recently, weʼve discussed with the U.S. and Europeans what can truly work. Everyone needs a just end to the war. Ukraine is ready to work as productively as possible to bring the war to an end, and we count on a strong position from America. Everything will depend on this – the Russians factor in American strength. Make no mistake – strength.
