Marion Maréchal called on the global community to refrain from blaming France for the “left-wing minority” responsible for anti-Christian insults during the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Maréchal, niece of National Rally leader Marine Le Pen and newly elected Member of the European Parliament, criticized the woke elements of the ceremony, which she had watched with her children. She expressed disgust at the depiction of a beheaded Marie-Antoinette, public displays of affection, drag queens, the forced dance performance of the Republican Guard to Aya Nakamura, and the overall unattractive costumes and choreography.

Thomas Jolly, the artistic director of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, defended the event against accusations of “wokeism” and mocking Christianity. At an official press conference, Jolly clarified that his aim was not to be subversive or shocking, but to showcase France’s diversity.
