WON’T FUND ANARCHY: Feds plan ‘full investigation’ into Portland police, funding after arrest of conservative journalist

FROM OREGON LIVE: The U.S. Department of Justice says it will launch a widescale probe of the Portland Police Bureau following the arrest of a conservative online journalist and influencer Thursday.

The first news of the “full investigation” came not from official sources, however, but was blasted out on social media by the independent journalist, Nicholas Sortor, just hours after he was released from the downtown Portland jail.

Around 7:30 a.m., Sortor posted on X that Bondi had personally called him to deliver news of the investigation.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Friday during a press briefing Friday that the arrest was “extremely troubling” and that he was “ambushed” by Antifa and defended himself from being assaulted before he was taken into custody on Thursday night.

“Instead of arresting these violent mob members night after night after night, who are ravaging this community, the police arrested a journalist who was there trying to document the chaos — and everyone in this room should be extremely concerned about that,” Leavitt told reporters.

“The Department of Justice spoke with that journalist this morning and they will be launching a full investigation into his arrest,” she added.

“This incident is part of a troubling trend in Portland, where left-wing mobs believe they get to decide who can visit and live in their city. It is not their city. It is the American people’s city, and President Trump is going to restore that

“We will not fund states that allow anarchy,” she said. “There will also be an additional surge of federal resources to Portland immediately, including enhanced CBP and ICE resources. Law and order will prevail and President Trump will make sure of it.”
