We’ll start today’s “Woke World Madness” report with one of those “you just can’t make this stuff up” videos.
1 – Democrat congresswoman makes insane comment about manufacturing
From Fox News: During a hearing on Wednesday, a Democratic lawmaker in the House said the reason why fewer women are involved in manufacturing could be because the term has the word “man” in it.
“Yesterday I met with a manufacturing company, but they also are engaged in getting young people more engaged in manufacturing,” Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., said during a Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade subcommittee hearing entitled “AI in Manufacturing: Securing American Leadership in Manufacturing and the Next Generation of Technologies.”
Schakowsky continued by saying she thinks that fewer women are in manufacturing because the word itself sounds too male.

2 – California Military Generals Pledged Loyalty to ‘LGBT People’ in ‘Culty’ 2016 Ceremony, Unearthed Photos Show
From the Washington Free Beacon: Military leaders at the highest levels of the California National Guard pledged loyalty to the LGBT community during an official ceremony led by the general whom Gov. Gavin Newsom (D.) later appointed to lead the force in 2022. One attendee told the Washington Free Beacon that members felt pressured to appear at the ceremony, which felt “culty.”
The California National Guard is tasked with safeguarding the state from natural disasters such as the fire that scorched Los Angeles in January, but at least four of its generals took a break from those duties to profess their allyship with the LGBT community during a June 27, 2016, event at the guard’s Sacramento headquarters, photos unearthed by the Free Beacon show. Pictures of the ceremony show the generals signing a wide-ranging “Ally Affirmation” statement pledging to challenge anyone who utters an “anti-LGBT joke or remark” in their presence.
The generals also committed to educate themselves and others about “oppression, discrimination, heterosexism, biphobia, transphobia, and homophobia” and to “come out as an ally and tell my family, friends, and colleagues know [sic] that I support equality for LGBT people.”
A retired guardsman who attended the ceremony described it as “very awkward and culty” and said he and other audience members felt pressured to attend out of fear of retaliation.
3 – Conservative rapper mocks the gender-confused community
A first glance, this 14-second video posted by conservative rapper Tom MacDonald may make some fans do a double-take.
The video is captioned, “My journey,” with a rainbow emoji. But it’s not what it appears. Instead, it’s an EPIC troll against people who are confused about what gender they are.

4 – School board member takes direct aim at ‘mediocre White men,’ DEI critics
From Fox News: A member of North Carolina’s largest school district’s board slammed critics of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and said the term is being bandied about by people who are racist in place of the “n-word.”
Wake County Schools board member Sam Hershey began his remarks at last week’s meeting in Raleigh by saying that if people are “searching for truth, we’re going to have to wait about four more years for that because, man, I’ve never seen someone lie so much as that person,” in an apparent reference to President Donald Trump.
Hershey, who is White, said that in recognition of Black History Month, he wanted to make some remarks about DEI in a meeting video posted to YouTube.
“I really want to highlight, as Dr. Ng mentioned, we’re celebrating 250 [years of America] next year that … it’s really important to talk about people being hired based on their skin color. And for 250 years, it has been mediocre White men who have been hired based on their skin color.”

He also claims that people who use the term “DEI hire” are just saying the “N-word” and are racist.… pic.twitter.com/WQLeopjEob

5 – University of Michigan, DEI Now Hides in Office of ‘Community Culture’
Washington Free Beacon: As President Donald Trump unleashed a suite of executive orders targeting DEI, the University of Michigan School of Nursing began quietly revamping its website.
A “diversity” tab with links to DEI resources was removed from the homepage. Pages with “DEI” in the title were renamed and purged of the offending adjective, according to web archives reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon, while the main page for the school’s diversity office—which stated, “We are not excellent if we do not reflect diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of our community”—was taken down entirely.
In its place was a new page for “Community Culture,” which declares that “culture is at the heart of everything we do.” None of the revised pages use the terms “diversity” or “DEI.”
It turns out the new pages link to the same DEI materials as the old ones, including a “DEI 2.0” strategic plan that is in effect through 2028. And lo and behold, the office of “Community Culture” employs all the same staff as the former diversity office.

The changes seemed to indicate that Michigan was finally downsizing a bureaucracy that employs more than 200 officials and has cost the university nearly $250 million since 2016. But Mark Perry, a retired professor at the university’s Flint campus, decided to take a closer look.

The title of just one official, Patricia Coleman-Burns, has changed from “DEI Strategic Planning Co-Lead” to “Strategic Planning Co-Lead.” The new office’s description also uses many of the same buzzwords associated with DEI, albeit not the acronym itself. pic.twitter.com/bXbkgaWMHk

The tweaks to Michigan’s website illustrate how schools may attempt to get around Trump’s EOs and disguise their diversity initiatives without getting rid of them, keeping the programs and personnel but dressing them up in new language.

“Schools at Michigan like Nursing are now attempting to maintain the ‘DEI status quo’ while hiding their DEI programming and services from the regents, media, taxpayers, federal and state government, and the public.”
— Aaron Sibarium (@aaronsibarium) February 13, 2025
The rebrand is part of a larger game of cat and mouse between DEI officials and their newly empowered opponents. See, for example, PBS’s plans to defy Trump’s executive order by moving its top DEI officers to another department. pic.twitter.com/NBGqfpqirt

The report noted that Michigan’s school of nursing had gone on a DEI hiring blitz, bringing on a chief diversity officer, Rushika Patel, whose title has since been changed to “Assistant Dean for Strategic Education,” according to the school’s online directory. pic.twitter.com/5qYusk5bRS

While Trump has not directly outlawed DEI at colleges and universities, he has pledged to target schools that discriminate “under the guise of … ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion.’”

And the success of the plan will be measured by “headcount and demographic diversity.”
The plan also lists “increasing the demographic diversity of graduate and doctoral students” as an explicit goal of the nursing school, which conducts a biennial “DEI campus climate survey.” pic.twitter.com/Eim5KQQ72i

“[W]e are aware that we are up against many forms of oppression,” the plan reads. “Given this context, and during this next DEI 2.0 period, the [School of Nursing] remains committed to mobilizing the incredible strength and potential of our School.” pic.twitter.com/SG4iSmPNq3

TLDR: It’s not clear how many universities are actually getting rid of their DEI bureaucracies. At schools like the University of Michigan, they’re just hiding them from public view.
