Former President Bill Clinton, the controversial 42nd president of this great nation, was seen at an airport this week sporting a new accessory: a defibrillator.
A defibrillator is a medical device that delivers an electric shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat when it stops or beats irregularly. Clinton was carrying what may have been a Propaq MD Air Medical Bag — “a transport monitor and defibrillator commonly used in emergencies,” according to the New York Post.
From the Post:
Bill Clinton is facing renewed questions about his health after he and his wife, Hillary, were spotted leaving the Hamptons this week with a portable defibrillator bag in tow — just two months after the 79-year-old former president was seen stumbling on a Big Apple sidewalk.
Clinton, dressed in a blue jacket and tan hat, was escorted by his security team. Hillary, the former secretary of state and twice-failed presidential candidate, covered up in a black sweatshirt over her blue two-piece outfit for the flight.
The sighting immediately reignited concerns about the ex-president’s fragile condition, given his long history of heart trouble.
Clinton’s serious health problems have been public knowledge for more than 20 years. In 2004, he had emergency quadruple bypass surgery to fix nearly complete blockages in his arteries. The situation was potentially deadly, and he narrowly avoided a heart attack.
In 2005, he was back in the hospital for surgery to fix a collapsed lung caused by scar tissue from his bypass.
Though his heart trouble is well documented, he has never disclosed the need for a portable defibrillator.
