President-elect Donald Trump continued his mocking strong-arm tactics against Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with a new post on Truth Social Monday night. He appeared to be responding to snide remarks Trudeau made at an event on Monday.

When Trudeau visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago last month, Trump quipped that if Canada didn’t stop ripping of the U.S. with the trade deficit, and didn’t stop allowing illegal aliens to flow through Canada into the U.S., that perhaps Canada should just become another state of the United States, and Trudeau could be demoted to ‘governor.’

Trump had threatened to impose a 25% tariff against Canadian imports if they did not address the border and trade deficit issues, which prompted Trudeau to hop on a plane and fly to Mar-a-Lago.

On Monday, while speaking at an event hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, Trudeau bragged about his ideas on how Canada could fight back against Trump’s “unfair” tariffs.

“Trump got elected on a commitment to make life better and more affordable for Americans, and I think people south of the border are beginning to wake up to the real reality that tariffs on everything from Canada would make life a lot more expensive,” Trudeau claimed.

“It was the fact that we put tariffs on bourbon and Harley-Davidsons and playing cards and Heinz ketchup and cherries and a number of other things that were very carefully targeted because they were politically impactful to the president’s party and colleagues,” Trudeau gloated, referring to a tit-for-tat tariff war during Trump’s first administration.

During the same speech, Trudeau haughtily commented on the “challenging situation everyone’s in,” and warned Canadians to be careful how they vote next year, so they don’t make the same ‘mistake’ other countries have made.

Clearly referring to Trump without saying his name, Trudeau sneered, “There’s a number of folks in different countries – and I won’t point out any particular one – where folks are going to be wondering about the choice they made in the election.”

“Let’s not be that kind of country in Canada,” he continued, as he made a push for addressing climate change, gun control, abortion and more. “Let’s not fall into an easy trap of voting change for the worse.”

Now, in a new social media post, Trump has cheekily referred to Trudeau as ‘governor’ and Canada as a state, as he appears to be responding to Trudeau’s boasting.

“It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada. I look forward to seeing the Governor again soon so that we may continue our in depth talks on Tariffs and Trade, the results of which will be truly spectacular for all! DJT,” Trump wrote.

The Trump War Room picked it up and wrote, “Thank you, Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada!”
