Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams has blasted out a statement condemning comments by an official on the new socialist mayor’s team, who claimed that home ownership is a “weapon of white supremacy.”
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim Democrat Socialist, appointed Cea Weaver, a progressive ‘housing justice’ activist, as the director of the city’s “Office to Protect Tenants” on his first day in office.
Weaver has deleted her old social media account, but internet sleuths had already grabbed screenshots of many of her old tweets, and her radical comments about ending home ownership is prompting massive outrage on social media.
Weaver had stated she wants to “seize private property.”
On August 21, 2019, Weaver tweeted, “Private property including any kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy masquerading as “wealth building” public policy.”
Adams angrily fired back in response to that statement.
“Homeownership is how immigrants, Black, Brown, and working-class New Yorkers built stability and generational wealth despite every obstacle. You have to be completely out of your f****ing mind to call that “white supremacy.” That level of thinking only comes from extreme privilege and total detachment from reality,” he wrote.
Elon Musk commented on Adams’ post, confirming his agreement.
