President Donald Trump spoke with reporters Friday morning and said he was on the verge of forging a deal that would end the war in Gaza and bring the Israeli hostages home.
As Trump prepared to depart the White House on his way to attend the Ryder Cup golf tournament in New York, he told reporters that he believed a deal was close.
“It’s looking like we have a deal on Gaza. I think it’s a deal that gets the hostages back, it’s going to be a deal that ends the war,” Trump said.
He White House is preparing a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, a senior White House official told Reuters. The aim of the meeting is “reaching a framework for a deal,” the outlet reported.

The proposal was circulated on Tuesday to officials from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan, according to U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff.
