President Donald Trump welcomed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to the White House around noon on Friday.

According to News Nation, Orban was planning to make an appeal to Trump to grant Hungary an exemption from U.S. sanctions on Russian oil.

President Trump told reporters, “We’re looking at it because it’s very difficult for him to get the oil and gas from other areas.”

When Orban first arrived at the White House, a reporter shouted out a question, after if Trump will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest.

Trump relied, “There is always a chance.”

The reporter also yelled out, asking Trump if Hungary should be allowed to purchase Russian oil?

Trump did not respond to that one.

Trump and Orban then sat down with a number of Cabinet members for a working lunch, and spoke to reporters for over 30 minutes, ahead of the luncheon.

During the exchange with reporters, the president commented on the ongoing government shutdown and the radical demands being made by Democrats.

“We’re not going to give $1.5 trillion to people that came into our country illegally — we’re not going to do it,” he declared.

On the war in Ukraine, Orban agreed, “There’s “no question” that the war in Ukraine would not have happened if President Trump was in office.”
