President Donald Trump hosted a swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office Monday afternoon for Sergio Gor, the new U.S. Ambassador to India.
Gor, 38, was born in what is now Uzbekistan, a part of the Soviet Union, and later immigrated to the United States as a teen. A Republican, Gor first served as a spokesman and deputy chief of staff for Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) He has also worked for the RNC and multiple other GOP politicians and candidates.
In June 2020, Gor left Paul’s office to serve on the Trump Victory Finance Committee, then began working for Donald Trump Jr. as a consultant and book publishing manager. In November 2024, following his election victory, Trump named Gor as his director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office.
Gor’s swearing-in ceremony was attended by Vice-President JD Vance, a number of Republicans senators, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Attorney ‘Judge’ Jeanine Pirro, Erika Kirk and others.

The president also responded to a number of questions from the media.
“We’re going to issue a dividend to our middle income people, and lower income people, of about $2,000 — and we’re going to use the remaining tariffs to lower our debt… trillions of dollars have been taken in or gotten in terms of investment, from the tariffs,” Trump promised.
