WATCH: Trump goes viral for illustrating how to cut government waste with his favorite pen

From Fox News: President Donald Trump turned heads again this week for a viral Cabinet meeting tangent about a favorite custom White House Sharpie. He said the marker is an example of how he can get “better” results for less cost.

The president brought up the pen while criticizing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell over a new headquarters, which he said costs the government $4 billion.

“If it was properly done and planned, you would have done that building for — I would have done it — for $25 million, and it would be better,” he said.

He then reached for a marker on a table and said, “See this pen right here? This pen is an interesting example.”

“This pen is very inexpensive, but it writes well. I like it,” Trump began.

He said when he first came to the White House, they had pens that cost $1,000 each for him to use to sign documents.

Trump noted that when he signs a bill or an executive order, sometimes there are 20-30 people standing around, with many wanting a pen to commemorate the event. So he was passing out pens that cost $1,000 each, even to children, who didn’t even realize what they had.

Plus, Trump said the pens didn’t even write well and kept running out of ink. So, he said he contacted Sharpie, who agreed to supply customized pens for only $5 each.

WATCH the lesson below from the author of “The Art of the Deal”:

Democrats are literally having a meltdown over Trump’s 5-minute Sharpie story during the Cabinet meeting, failing to appreciate the lesson he was demonstrating on the need to curtail government waste.

Some are calling it embarrassing, and mocking the story.

“But he filled the oval office with gold,” X user Alex Neumann sneered.

Liberal radio host Tim Shiflett fumed, “About that cognitive test that Trump took? I demand a recount…”

The Washington Post also went on a rampage and claimed they fact-checked Trump’s story.

“President Trump spent five minutes of his Cabinet meeting boasting of his thrift with a story about negotiating for $5 personalized Sharpies,” the Post mockingly wrote, adding, “The company that makes the permanent markers said the exchange never happened.”
