During an exchange with reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, President Trump responded to a question about the embarrassing moment French President Emmanuel Macron was recently shoved in the face by his wife while the cameras were rolling.

Macron and his wife were reportedly “squabbling” when their plane touched down in Vietnam for a state visit last weekend.

As the cameras were rolling, the plane door opened, and suddenly Macron was seen getting shoved backwards by his wife, with her hands right in his face. He turned, realized the door had opened, and gave an embarrassed smile.

Macron later tried to brush it off, saying it was just a minor squabble, or joke. “People are saying all sorts of nonsense. Everyone needs to calm down,” he argued.

On Friday, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked President Trump about the incident and quipped, “Do you have any world leader marital advice?”

Others in the room laughed, while Trump smiled and shook his head, clearly trying to guard his response.

Finally he said, “Make sure the door remains closed. That was not good.”

Then Trump added, “No, I spoke to him and he’s fine, they’re fine. They’re two really good people. I know them very well. And, I don’t know what that was all about but I know him very well and they’re fine.”
