During his Inaugural Address on Monday, President Donald J. Trump recalled the moment he was nearly assassinated at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania in July.

“Those who wish to stop our cause have tried to take my freedom and, indeed, to take my life,” Trump said somberly.

“Just a few months ago in a Pennsylvania field, an assassin’s bullet ripped through my ear. But I felt then, and believe even more so now, that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to Make America Great Again.”

The room erupted in grateful applause, as Trump was given a standing ovation by nearly everyone in the room.

However, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Bill and Hillary Clinton and other Democrats were seen remaining firmly in their seats.

Speaking at the Capitol One Arena later on Monday, Rep. Byron Donalds echoed the same sentiment, saying Trump “is here at this time because God has placed him here at this time to make sure that the Golden Era of America comes through right now.”
