From the Daily Caller: “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested on Wednesday that America treats black people just as badly as Iran treats its own citizens.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin highlighted the human rights abuses that occur in Iran, particularly towards women and gay people. Goldberg argued that black and gay Americans have endured the same kinds of abuses in the U.S. that those in Iran experience.

“The Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings. They don’t adhere to basic human rights,” Griffin said.

“Well here’s the thing. Let’s not do that because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. Listen, I’m sorry. [Americans] used to just keep hanging black people,” Goldberg said, prompting Griffin to say that’s not equivalent.

“Oh wait, wait, wait. That’s not what you mean to say, it is the same!” Goldberg yelled, as she sought to tie a few random crime cases in the US to the draconian Sharia law being implemented by the Iranian government.

Griffin fired back at Goldberg, saying, “The year 2025 in the United States is nothing like if I stepped foot wearing this outfit in Tehran right now. I can’t have my hair showing, I can’t wear a skirt, I can’t have my arms out.”

Goldberg was not having it, as she insisted, “Murdering someone for their difference is not good whoever does it. It’s not good.”

After seeing the jaw-dropping segment, social media has exploded as well.

Angela Belcamino wrote, “Women in Iran face brutal violence… beatings, rape, and death for simply showing their hair. Yet, Whoopi Goldberg, a multimillionaire celebrity in America, compares her life to theirs. Life in the United States as a woman is not the same as it is in Iran. Can we all agree?”

Podcast host Clay Travis wrote, “Holy shit, Whoopi Goldberg said it’s not different to live in the US and Iran in 2025. How can you be this clueless? Her co-host, who has Iranian heritage, is trying to point out that women can’t even dress like she is on the show. Gets shouted down.”
