From Fox5 Atlanta: A Southwest Airlines flight traveling from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale was diverted to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Friday night following a reported security threat that resulted in a passenger being removed from the plane by police.

Southwest Airlines Flight 2094 landed safely in Atlanta at approximately 9:06 p.m. after diverting from its original path to Florida. According to a statement from Southwest Airlines, the aircraft was diverted to respond to a “possible security matter.”

The airline confirmed that a specific passenger was removed from the flight by the Atlanta Police Department.

According to CBS Evening News, the Captain told Air Traffic Control that a man on the flight was acting suspiciously, and said, “He had a timer going off every 10 minutes, foreign languages, worried about his bags…”

Multiple videos are going viral on social media, as all passengers were instructed to put their heads down and their hands up.

SWAT officers were seen walking down the aisle of the plane and approaching one man, telling him, “Stand up, let’s go!” They put him in handcuffs right there, then marched him off the plane.

The New York Post interviewed Sarah Porter, 15, a passenger on the plane, who said, “We were told we were going to have an emergency landing 45 minutes into the flight but weren’t told what was happening or where we were landing.”

Porter said the man’s carry-on bag was too large to fit under the seat in front of him, and he became agitated when a flight attendant told him he would have to put the bag in the bin above him, and started texting someone.

After the man was removed from the plane, the other passengers had to wait about 90 minutes on the plane before being told to deboard. Then they had to wait another 90 minutes on buses on the runway, before finally being put on another airplane.

They arrived at their destination in Florida just before 4:00 a.m. Saturday.

The identity of the passenger removed from the plane is still a mystery.

However, News Nation later reported: According to the FBI, both federal and local law enforcement investigated and interviewed the person involved in the incident, but there was “no credible threat,” and no charges will be filed.
