Immigration expert Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies is reporting on a massive group of migrants in southern Mexico who are making a desperate rush to the U.S. border ahead of the U.S. presidential election, as they fear that if former President Donald Trump is re-elected, he will close the border and enforce immigration laws.

Bensman, writing for the Daily Mail, says he went to Tapachula, a city in southwest Mexico near the border with Guatemala, to find out why the caravans of migrants have restarted, after slowing down over the past months of this year.

From the Daily Mail: ‘I love Kamala Harris,’ a young Venezuelan man declared as he rested on the side of a highway in southern Mexico last week.

His belongings were heaped at his feet. Hundreds of fellow migrants stretched out along the roadway in both directions.

They’re headed for the U.S. and nearly all of them have an opinion about who should be America’s next president.

‘Donald Trump, no,’ the Venezuelan man said, shaking his head and dragging his thumb across his throat in a slicing motion.

He is one of thousands of migrants – from all over the world – joining a new rush traveling north from southern Mexico toward the U.S. border, less than two weeks before the presidential election.

Bensman explains that when the mass migration became such a public relations disaster for the Biden administration, Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Mexico’s president in December 2023 to demand that he impose stricter control over the flood of migrants heading through the country.

Mexico started loading up migrants in northern Mexico and deporting them back to the southern cities, such as Tapachula, a process which the Mexican media called “Operation Carousel.”

For ten months, the caravans stopped, Bensman explains, but added that now they’re on the move again, because many migrants believe this is their last chance to get to the US.

Also, Bensman said, instead of trying to stop the caravans, now the Mexican government is literally encouraging them, and the Mexican National Guard is serving as escorts.

Bensman warned that the numbers of migrants intending to come to the US is MASSIVE. He writes:

For months, an estimated 150,000 U.S.-bound migrants have been bottled up in increasingly dire conditions in Tapachula, as ever more arrive there from South and Central America.

In fact, the true number massing in southern Mexico may even be in the hundreds of thousands. I’ve visited Tapachula at least five times over the last decade and I’ve never seen it so crowded. All the hotels and motels are packed. Immigrant shelters are at full capacity.

In fact, it’s so crowded in the Tapachula area that the U.S. government is now building a new migration processing facility there, Bensman noted.

In a bombshell video, Bensman announced, “A new MASS ILLEGAL MIGRATION MALL going up fast in Tapachula, Mexico that’ll house UN agencies and nonprofit migration-help groups under one convenient one-stop shop roof. This multipurpose building shows all are bullish on a prosperous future for industrialized mass migration.”

Last week, Bensman shared a video and explained, “Here’s one of the Biden/Harris-engineered road checkpoints keeping 150,000 in the TAPACHULA MIGRANT ENTRAPMENT ZONE. Per the December US-Mex deal, federales police buses, taxis, and smuggling trucks and ship foreigners back, keeping US border looking ok for the Harris campaign.”

“Remember this as you hear Vice President Kamala Harris tout new statistics showing a precipitous decline in the number of illegal U.S. border crossings in 2024. She attributes the positive change to the recent enforcement of U.S. asylum laws. But that’s not the full story,” Bensman warned.

While some of the migrants are making a desperate rush to get to the border, others say they will wait to see if Harris is elected.  If she is, then they will come, as they are expecting the borders to be thrown wide open, Bensman wrote.

Bensman also shared a video of an interview he had with a man from Iran who is among the migrants in Tapachula, waiting to come to the U.S.  He said he traveled to Brazil, then came up through other countries to reach Mexico.  He is waiting to get approval to come to the US by using the CBP One app.  He says he loves the US and already has several friends in the US.

Border reporter Anthony Aguero is also reporting on the caravans headed to the US, and announced, “This is what’s now headed to our southern border. These welfare dependents are now leaving Tapachula, Mexico. I will be on the frontlines in the coming days to bring you up to date on the border invasion.”

“It’s only going to get worse, many illegalities are trying to get in before the election, they don’t know that transfer of power is in January so they’re all in a rush… we will have MILLIONS coming in the next few weeks…” Aguero also wrote.
