Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, condemned the arrest of Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan during an interview with Fox 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul on Tuesday.

Dugan was arrested by the FBI on Friday, for allegedly helping an illegal alien from Mexico to sneak out of a courthouse without being seen by ICE officials on April 18.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, 30, had appeared before Judge Hannah Dugan for a pre-trial conference on April 18 at 8:30 a.m. on domestic violence charges.  He is accused of getting into a fight with a roommate and punching the person 30 times in the face. He then allegedly hit a woman who tried to break up the fight.

Ruiz had already been deported once in January 2013. At some unknown date, he had snuck back into the U.S. Upon learning of the domestic violence charges, ICE had showed up at the court house to take him into custody.

Judge Dugan, a Democrat, reportedly allowed Ruiz and his attorney to leave through a side door in the courtroom, directing them down a private hallway, effectively sneaking them past the ICE agents who were waiting to arrest him after the court hearing.

During the interview with Fox 9 host Amy Hockert, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey was asked if he would support the judge being arrested?

Frey first said he doesn’t know all the details, but then proceeded to blast the federal agents for arresting the judge. He touted the importance of “separation of powers” and declared this situation is a “threat to the whole Republic.”

Then, without discussing any of the crimes Ruiz was charged for, Frey gushed, “And in Minneapolis…  we care about our neighbors, these are people that have lived here, in many cases, for decades. These are residents, they work here, they’ve got kids here, and here, they’re not illegal aliens. They are our neighbors. We care about them. We love them.”

Tuesday evening, Frey posted a video on X as he raged against President Trump for passing an executive order that would require police to work with ICE.

He claimed he wants police to be going after the murderers, not worrying about some harmless illegal alien who isn’t bothering anyone.

“We need to keep our police department focused on stopping violent crime, not enforcing federal immigration law,” he fumed.

One X user fired back, “So let me get this straight, you have one of the highest crime rates in the country, one of the highest murder rates in the country. Your crime rate has increased since 2020 during the Biden administration and because you’re a sanctuary city you don’t ask immigration status, so you have no statistics. But you can’t be bothered to assist ICE with violent criminals with ICE detainers. Got it!! Sounds like you got this!! 🤡.”
