From the Daily Mail: A Republican senator has issued a scorching rebuke to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem over her deadly immigration crackdown.
Senator Thom Tillis branded Noem’s leadership a ‘disaster’ and demanded her resignation during a Senate Judiciary committee hearing on Tuesday.
Noem remained silent throughout Tillis’ intense grilling and declined to comment after he publicly called for her resignation.
Tillis became highly agitated, pointing his finger and yelling at the border chief as he ripped her for refusing to take accountability for mistakes surrounding the killings of protesters by ICE in Minneapolis in January.
Tillis, who is retiring from the senate at the end of this year, yelled at Noem, “I want to submit this letter from the office of Inspector General that cites 10 different instances where they’ve been misled and not allowed to pursue investigations. That’s a failure of leadership. And that is why I’ve called for your resignation!”
Threatening to block all further Trump nominations, Tillis raged, “If I don’t get an answer to these questions, I’ll be informing leadership that I’m putting a hold on any en bloc nominations!”
“What we’ve seen is a disaster! Under your leadership Ms. Noem – a disaster! What we’ve seen is innocent people being detained!” he shouted.
Tillis also tore into Noem over a book she released in the past, in which she wrote about killing a dog and a goat.
He started off by slamming the Biden administration’s open borders policies that got the U.S. into such a mess and said that was one of the main reasons President Donald Trump won the election.
However, Tillis said Noem’s department is missing a huge opportunity by just going after numbers, trying to deport a huge number of illegal aliens, instead of focusing on the worst criminals.
