Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky has confirmed that he’s “thinking about” running for president in 2028, and said he will make a final decision after the November midterm elections.
Paul, a Libertarian who has frequently clashed with President Donald Trump, was speaking to CBS News host Robert Costa in a CBS Sunday Morning interview that is set to air. on Sunday, March 29.
Paul noted that there’s not much left of the libertarian wing of the Republican Party, and admitted that the libertarian vote “may not be big enough to ever win anything.”
However, Costa then pointed to a report by the Washington Examiner last week, titled, “Rand Paul sounds like he’s running for president.”
Paul first tried to brush it aside, saying, “I don’t know yet… So maybe they know something I don’t know.”
Then he admitted, “We’re thinking about it — I would say 50-50. We’ll make a decision after the election.”

Based on the reactions pouring in to the preview video, Sen. Paul doesn’t have a chance of ever winning support from conservative voters on a presidential run.
“That is the most hysterical headline all month,” X user Debroah Simmons wrote.
One person mocked, “Um…I’ll vote for him if Markwayne Mullin does. Just imagine President Rand trying to lead the country overwhelmed and angry at people for saying things 10 years ago he didn’t like because it hurt his feelings.”
“He should run as a Democrat. I would support that,” X user Lee Dickey mocked.
