Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, and faced heated criticism from both sides of the aisle, with at least three senators calling for her resignation.
Democrat senators, and even some Republicans, blasted Noem over the handling of the immigration enforcement operations in Minneapolis, where agents were overwhelmed by mobs of anti-ICE protesters – all with the blessing of Democrat officials.
Unfortunately, the out-of-control protests led to two protesters being shot and killed when their violent actions threatened federal agents. In turn, the killings sparked even more protests.
As Noem was about to begin her opening statement on Tuesday, an anti-ICE protester was escorted from the hearing after she jumped up and began yelling, “Kristi Noem, you should be ashamed of yourself! I’m a former FEMA employee. You have disgraced our agency! FEMA employees… should be responding to disasters, not ICE agents!”
“Abolish ICE! Abolish ICE!” the woman screamed as she was dragged from the room by security.

Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.) blasted Noem over the shootings of protesters Renée Good, Alex Pretti and demanded, “Do you retract these statement identifying these individuals as domestic terrorists?”
Another protester in the room erupted in a screaming fit during that exchange.

Noem fired back at Durbin, “I know Senator Durbin that you appear to be very concerned about illegal immigrants…I am very concerned and doing my job and protecting American citizens.”

In an unusual twist, Republican Sen. John Kennedy (La.) also voiced criticism toward Noem.
“How do you square that concern with waste, which I share, with the fact that you have spent $220 million running television advertisements that feature you prominently?” he asked.

In one mic-drop moment, Democrat Sen. Chris Coons (Del.) demanded, “Will you rule out the deployment of ICE or CBP to polling places this November?”
Noem retorted, “Do you plan on illegal aliens voting in our elections, Senator?”

Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal (CT) also went on attack, as he introduced U.S. citizens who he said were apprehended by ICE agents.

Republican Sen. Eric Schmitt (Mo.) fired back, “Since we’re having folks stand up, I would have Laken Riley stand up. I would have Kayla Hamilton stand up…I would have the beautiful sons and daughters who were murdered by illegal immigrants stand up, but I can’t because they’re dead.”

Progressive Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono (Hawaii) ripped into Noem, raging, “No more masks, no more warrantless searches, no more roving gang of officers terrorizing our communities. We need DHS to meet the same use of standards that local police meet!”

Democrat Sen. Cory Booker (NJ) erupted into a massive firestorm, declaring, “This is a reckless and out of control agency that you are responsible for. You seem to have no situational awareness whatsoever… Either you are utterly incompetent or you are violating laws with impunity. You should step down from your position!”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (SC) pointed out the current danger to America by the Democrats holding up the DHS funding bill.
Sen. @LindseyGrahamSC: “Can we not understand America’s under siege now, likely to be attacked because Radical Islam is under siege and they’re going to hit back and we’re sitting here looking at each other and not funding DHS!?! If you want to reform ICE, great. Count me in.” pic.twitter.com/QYfVKfoYQm
