From CBS NewsHundreds gathered in Dallas and Forth Worth to protest President Donald Trump’s new immigration policies on Sunday.

Protesters filled sidewalks waving flags and holding signs at the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas and near Trinity Park on 7th St. in Fort Worth.

News of the protest spread across social media over the weekend, with posts inviting people to “show up & speak up for those who can’t.”

“Don’t be afraid if you can’t speak up for yourself,” said Joselin Ibarra, one of the two16-year-old protest organizers. “There is someone out there that will. You know someone who is probably undocumented, a co-worker, a neighbor, so don’t be mean. We’re all human. We just came here for the American Dream.”

The report estimates that over 1,000 people showed up for the event. The majority of them were waving Mexican flags, and some Palestinian flags were seen as well.

Many protesters carried homemade signs which read, “We will not be silent,” “We Rise, we Resist, we March,” and “Nobody is illegal on stolen land.”

“We are not criminals,” and “Families belong together,” other signs read.

Carlos Turcios, a reporter with the Dallas Express posted multiple videos from the event. He said the protesters were waving Mexican and other foreign flags, but there was no sign of the American flags.

They are calling for ICE to be abolished, and for all illegal aliens to be granted amnesty in the U.S., Turcios said.

“F**k Donald Trump,” the crowd chanted. Taunting the reporter filming them, and mistaking him for Turcios, one woman said, “We have a white man following us!”
