President Donald Trump welcomed a group of nearly two dozen Christian pastors and faith leaders to the Oval Office on Thursday for a time of prayer.
The moving moment came during a tumultuous week. Midterm elections were held in three states on Tuesday, and Trump now has to make decisions on who to endorse in some critical races.
On Wednesday, a Clinton-appointed judge ordered the Trump administration to start refunding billions of dollars which companies had paid in tariffs, after the Supreme Court ruled the tariffs were unconstitutional.
Thursday was the sixth day of the Israel-US military operations against Iran, to squash the terrorist regime. And, on top of everything else, Trump was making the decision to fire DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and choosing her replacement.
The White House Faith Office, led by faith leader Paul White-Cain, organized the Oval Office prayer event. Several prominent leaders attended, including Robert Jeffress, Samuel Rodriguez, and David Barton.
Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino and White House assistant Margo Martin both posted videos of the special event on social media, as the group is seen surrounding the president and praying for him.
In the video, one man is heard praying:
“We are honored to come before your presence today, lifting up the arms of our president. We pray for your continued blessing, and favor to rest upon him. We pray for wisdom from Heaven, to cleanse his heart and his mind, and Lord, You will guide him in these challenging times that we’re facing today.
“I pray for your grace and your protection over him. I pray for your grace and your protection over our troops and all of our men and women serving in our armed forces. And Father, we just pray you continue to give our President the strength that he needs to lead our great nation as we come back to one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. We pray Your Heavenly blessing upon him. In Jesus’ name.”

Pastor Samuel Rodriguez shared photos from the event, and added more details. He wrote:
Yesterday I had the privilege of joining a group of faith leaders in the Oval Office to pray with and over the President of the United States during a moment of significant responsibility for our nation and the world.
The gathering was facilitated by Pastor Paula White-Cain and Jennifer Korn of the White House Faith Office and brought together several faith leaders to intercede for the President, our nation, and the decisions before him. We prayed for wisdom, protection, and God’s guidance as he leads during a consequential moment in global affairs.
What made the moment especially meaningful was the context in which it occurred. As the President continues to serve as Commander-in-Chief during Operation Epic Fury, with U.S. forces targeting Iranian Regime infrastructure and missile capabilities, the Oval Office was opened for prayer.
Even in the midst of global conflict and immense responsibility, we paused to seek God’s wisdom and covering. Leadership at the highest level requires humility, discernment, and dependence upon God.
We prayed for the President, for the United States, for our military personnel, and for peace through strength in this critical hour.
Moments like this serve as a powerful reminder that faith still has a place in the highest rooms of leadership and that prayer remains one of the most meaningful acts we can offer on behalf of our nation.’
1 Timothy 2:1-2 NLT
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”
