Linda Sarsour, the Palestinian-American activist who led the Women’s March against then-President Donald Trump in January 2017, is touting that all her protesting is paying off.
Sarsour, 44, a Muslim of Palestinian descent, is from Brooklyn, New York. She has led protests on a number of issues, including police ‘brutality,’ feminism, immigration policy, mass incarceration, and organizing Black Lives Matter marches. She is also a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She was even recognized by the Obama White House in 2012 as a ‘Champion of Change.’
This week Sarsour gloated in an interview with a member of the progressive group Code Pink that Joe Biden is no longer running for re-election.
Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin said Sarsour is “really keeping us energized with her very, very important message about Kamala Harris’s changes in the Democratic Party.”
“The fact that Joe Biden is not on the top of the Democratic ticket is because of our movement… The fact that Kamala is not presiding over Netanyahu’s speech is also because of our movement,” Sarsour cheered.
“There are so many little things that are happening, the progress that we are seeing in this country… this progress is because of you, your work is not in vain… Stay outside, stay disruptive, and make sure the Democratic Party continues to listen and to hear from you that they will not ever be an influential party in this country without heeding the calls of our movement,” she declared.
