While attending Ethel Kennedy’s memorial service in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Joe Biden and Barack Obama got into a private discussion right in front of the cameras that has set social media abuzz.
Kennedy, 96, widow of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, passed away on Oct. 10.
Footage captured by C-Span shows Biden, Obama, and former president Bill Clinton all being escorted into the service and shown to their seats on the front row. None of their wives are in attendance.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul are seen coming in also.
However, it is still early, with no one seated yet in the chapel, as the crowd stands while waiting for the service to start.
Biden first appears to be in a daze, then Obama moves closer to speak with him. The only sound heard in the video footage is the church’s organ music. Exactly what Obama and Biden were discussing is anyone’s guess – and everyone IS guessing – but the conversation appears to take a serious turn.
At one point, Obama turns away, but Biden grabs his arm and the discussion resumes.
Video of the exchange has gone viral on social media, and speculation is swirling as to what the discussion was about.
