WATCH: Noem BLOCKED from entering building in Illinois

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was in Illinois and was denied entry into Broadview City Hall.

On Friday, Noem met with employees inside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing facility in Broadview as crowds gathered outside, with more joining by the hour.

According to local reports, some people were “riled by newly installed barricades to separate them from law enforcement officers stationed outside.”

“Every week, ICE escalates its violence against us,” said Demi Palecek, a military veteran and candidate for Congress. “With this level of escalation, it’s only a matter of time before someone is killed.”

At one point, Noem was in the Village of Broadview, located west of Chicago, when she attempted to enter the Broadview City Hall to use the restroom. She was allegedly told she could not enter.

Noem wrote on X, “My team and I were just blocked from accessing the Village of Broadview Municipal Building in Illinois. We were stopping for a quick bathroom break. This is a public building. The Village of Broadview receives at least $1 million in federal funding every year.”

“This is how JB Pritzker and his cronies treat our law enforcement,” she added. “Absolutely shameful.”

Conservative media personality Benny Johnson was on scene when it happened. He wrote on X, “DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was just barred at the doors and screamed at while trying to enter Broadview City Hall. Sec. Noem says this is the everyday reality for officers in cities led by Democrats like Governor JB Pritzker, facing attacks and harassment just for doing their jobs and trying to maintain order.

“This is what we have to put up with every single day.”

“All we’re doing is getting criminals and terrorists and heroin and gang members off the streets to make families safer.”

The Village of Broadview responded. ABC 7 reported:

Village of Broadview spokesperson David Ormsby issued a statement on Friday afternoon, saying Noem showed up at Village Hall on Friday morning to ask for a meeting while Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson was out of the building.

Ormsby said Thompson later went to the ICE facility, accompanied by Broadview Police Chief Thomas Mills and other officers, to request that the fencing around the building be dismantled.”

“Since DHS Secretary Kristi Noem appeared this morning, unannounced, at Broadview’s Village Hall asking for a meeting while Mayor Katrina Thompson was out of the building, the mayor returned her visit. Mayor Thompson went to the ICE center, accompanied by the Broadview Police Chief Thomas, and officers, to ask for the illegal fence to be dismantled. The mayor was told by agents at the gate the secretary was unavailable to meet,” Ormsby said.

The Broadview Fire Department has asked that the “illegally built” fencing be removed, saying that it could block firefighters’ access to areas on that street in the event of an emergency.

This all comes after ISP set up concrete barricades overnight to designate protest zones in an effort to ease tensions between demonstrators and federal agents.

Meanwhile, Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker has ripped the Trump administration over the way he says federal agents are treating protesters, local media reports.

The report says Pritzker “castigated their ‘inhumane’ tactics including slamming protesters to the ground, arresting a reporter and firing chemical agents into the crowds.”

“They show their faces, they have proper identification, and they are accountable to the people of Illinois,” Pritzker said. “It is clear federal agents cannot be trusted to act to protect the safety and constitutional rights of the public.”

Noem also assisted in a raid while in Chicago. According to Johnson, “Secretary Kristi Noem just raided a Walmart in Chicago with ICE. @Sec_Noem was part of the raid.

“I just watched the whole thing. Incredible. Dozens of criminal aliens running and jumping the fence. Vehicles fleeing DHS. Multiple apprehensions and arrests. Wild scenes…”
