WATCH: Markwayne Mullin sworn in as new DHS Secretary

Markwayne Mullin is being sworn in as the New Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tuesday. The ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET, or a few minutes after.

Mullin was confirmed by the U.S. Senate Monday night in a 54-45 vote, with two Democrats, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, crossing the aisle to support him. Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) was the lone Republican to oppose Mullin’s nomination.

Mullin is replacing Kristi Noem, who President Trump said he would move to serve in a different role in his administration.

After being confirmed as DHS Secretary Monday night, Mullin resigned from the U.S. Senate.  Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has appointed energy executive Alan Armstrong to fill the remaining 9 months of Mullin’s term in the Senate.

House Speaker Mike Johnson congratulated Mullin Monday night. He wrote:

Congratulations to my friend Markwayne Mullin on his bipartisan confirmation as Secretary of Homeland Security.

I look forward to continuing our important work with you and President Trump to put America First — keeping our border secure, our communities safe, and our country strong.

While Democrats block paychecks for law enforcement and prioritize criminal illegal aliens — Republicans are fighting to support the 260,000 American heroes who serve at DHS and protect the American people.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune wrote, “Markwayne Mullin brings unmatched energy, grit, and heart to everything he does, and DHS will be no different. The Senate will miss him, but the country will be better for it.”
