Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, is holding a press conference at 11:00 a.m. CT Monday, amid the exploding Minnesota fraud scandal.

Walz is facing multiple calls for his resignation and prosecution as the fraud scandal involving Somali migrants in Minnesota has grown into the billions.

This comes just a couple hours after Walz announced that he is dropping out of his race for re-election as governor.

“I’ve decided to step out of the race and let others worry about the election while I focus on the work,” he claimed.

Walz started off his press conference by acknowledging the fraud problem, then immediately pivoted to blame the Trump administration, Republicans, and “conspiracy theorist right-wing YouTubers.”

He wildly claimed that Republicans are trying to profit politically off Minnesota’s fraud problem.

“For the last several years, an organized group of criminals have sought to take advantage of this state’s generosity… but even as we make progress in the fight against the fraudsters, we now see an organized group of political actors seeking to take advantage of a crisis,” he claimed.

Walz confirmed he is dropping out of his race for re-election, and defiantly touted his “servant leadership” in Minnesota.  He threatened to “fight back” against those who “abuse power and smear entire communities.”

Independent journalist Nick Shirley, who exposed part of the massive fraud scheme in Minnesota in a viral video, wrote after Walz announced he would not run for re-election, “I ENDED TIM WALZ.”
