President Donald Trump First Lady Melania Trump traveled to Norfolk, Virginia on Sunday to join the celebrations for the U.S. Navy’s 250th birthday.
Other officials are also participating in the event, including War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Navy Secretary John Phelan, Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins and U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, a former Navy rear admiral.
The Associated Press published a critical report, titled, “Trump celebrates the Navy’s 250th anniversary in the midst of the shutdown.”
Trump announced in a Truth Social post, “It will be a big day with the Navy. Leaving now. The United States has the greatest military, by far, in the World. This will be a show of Naval aptitude and strength. ENJOY WATCHING! It will be broadcast everywhere. President DJT.”
